Breakout rapper Pitbull said Lindsay Lohan misunderstood his intent behind mentioning her name in his smash-hit single Give Me Everything, in response to a lawsuit the embattled actress filed against him in New York’s Nassau County last Friday.
In the suit, Lilo claims the rapper used her name in an “offensive and disparaging manner” on the track, in which he brags: “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”
Pitbull, 30, said he's supported Lohan's career and wasn't meaning to disparage her name in the context of the song, as "everything about this record is so positive."
Pitbull clarified that when he said she's "got it locked up," it means she runs every aspect of her life. He pointed out how, despite her issues, she's stayed popular throughout, noting the song helped keep her "relevant" with its' non-stop airplay internationally.
Pitbull extended an invitation to the Mean Girls star to watch him perform the song at this weekend's VMAs, which will be broadcast on MTV and MTV.com from Los Angeles' Nokia Theater August 28 at 9/8c.
The song is produced by Afrojack and features hook-man Ne-Yo; both are also named in the suit.
