The Obama’s changed the way they eat a few years ago when their pediatrician
became concerned with their daughters’ Body Mass Index (BMI), and the book will detail how they got rid of sweets, processed foods and juice boxes, according to iVillage, who were the first to get Michelle’s book cover.
“It was really we just substituted real food for processed food,” Michelle said at the White House. “That was really the major difference. So grape juice was actually juice from a grape,” she said to laughter, “which was pretty cool."
Michelle told iVillage that she receives letters from children who want to know about the garden at the White House, so the book will provide details on the garden, how to create a better sense of community, school and how to utilize farmers markets.
“We’ve heard so many great stories from kids who’ve been inspired and doing things like changing the way their families do things,” the First Lady said.
The book is being published by Crown Publishers and is expected to hit the shelves of bookstores in April, 2012.
And most importantly, Michelle will be donating all after-tax proceeds from the book to a yet unnamed charity.
