New York State Senator Demanding An Apology From 'Lil Wayne' Over New York City Hate Comment! (Video)
August 23, 2012GWL StaffYoung Money rapper Lil Wayne is on the bad side of New York state senator. Malcolm A. Smith who held a press conference yesterday afternon, demanding an apology for telling MTV News that he doesn’t like New York City.
According to the NY Times, During a press conference in NYC Father Duffy Square between 46 & 47, where Smith said he was “angry,” “taken aback” and “shocked” by Weezy’s statement. He further added that it’s particularly upsetting because his district of Hollis, Queens, is “essentially the home and the origin of hip-hop.” More details below.......................
“I take strong exception to the words ‘I don’t like New York,’ ”
“If you don’t like New York,” Mr. Smith said, “you don’t have to come to New York. You don’t have to sell your products here. And perhaps we won’t come to your concerts.”
Although Smith was shocked by Lil Wayne’s remarks, those who know the rapper’s history may not have been all that surprised. Weezy has a history with the city, after all, he arrested after his first show in Manhattan back in 2007 where he pled guilty to a weapons charge, while spending eight months behind bars on Rikers Island in New York’s East River.
So far, Wayne has not yet commented on the senator’s demand.
Okay, I live in New York City and I think it's the greatest city in the world, but I have my times when I HATE IT! so if you don't like me saying that, then sue me!
