Despite calling a moment of silence during one of her Mrs. Carter World Tour show at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee., 31 year-old Beyonce Knowles-Carter is reportedly the first major celebrity to sign and support the #ActNow petition for deceased teen Trayvon Martin who was murdered in Sanford, Florida last year after a neighborhood-watchman named George Zimmerman believed he was a threat and pursued him on foot with a armed shot gun.
Zimmerman was reportedly told by Sanford PD to not follow the teen and should remain in his home and wait for the police to arrive. But he failed to corporate and later shot the teen who was wearing a hoodie and carrying a skittles and a dollar Arizona drink.
Just last week, a jury of six female acquitted Zimmerman in the shooting of the 17 year-old teen and sparked many controversies within the black community.
On the "Grown Woman" singer's website, she encourages fans to sign the #actnow petition and explains why they should support the Trayvon movement.
Here's what she had to say:
AUGUST 28, 1955 - EMMETT TILL, 14, MONEY, MISSISSIPPIFEBRUARY 26, 2012 - TRAYVON MARTIN, 17, SANFORD, FLORIDA.
"WE ARE STILL STRUGGLING WITH THE ISSUE OF INEQUALITY AND THE LACK OF VALUE FOR A BLACK MAN’S LIFE. TRAYVON MARTIN’S MOST BASIC CIVIL RIGHT, THE RIGHT TO LIVE, WAS VIOLATED.
WE HAVE MADE SO MUCH PROGRESS AND CANNOT ALLOW HATRED AND RACISM TO DIVIDE US. WHEN WE ALL JOIN TOGETHER, PEOPLE OF ALL RACES, WE HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD WE LIVE IN.
WE MUST FIGHT FOR TRAYVON THE SAME WAY THE GENERATION BEFORE US FOUGHT FOR EMMETT TILL.
I JOINED OVER 570,000 PEOPLE IN SIGNING THE PETITION BELOW AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL, TOO."

#ACTNOW4TRAYVONNow, the creator/s of the petition is asking Attorney General Eric Holder to open a civil rights case against Zimmerman for flagrant violation of human rights. Here's what the petition reads:
"The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida's prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began. Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act.
The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin. We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation.
Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today.
Thank you.
Plus, this past weekend Beyonce's sister Solange lead a peaceful rally in Brooklyn for the deceased teen. She carried a plaque quoting words from human rights activist Malcolm X: "I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who its for or against."
