Jennifer Lopez brought her star power to the annual Human Rights Campaign gala on Saturday night at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

Lopez was awarded infront of 3,400 people the gay-rights group's Ally for Equality award, which she says "felt like a victory lap," following Supreme Court victories on same-sex marriage.
Lopez hailed “my gay and lesbian friends” for helping the dinner raise $2.5 million and declared solidarity:

“I’m a single mom, raising my own so-called non-traditional family” — before pivoting to tout “The Fosters,” the new ABC Family drama she produces about a same-sex couple raising foster kids. While she felt instantly that the show was “groundbreaking and timely,” she had a brief moment of fearing controversy, she said. Indeed, she weathered a brief protest by the conservative One Million Moms — “and I couldn’t have been more proud.”

After reportedly backing out of "The 33", word from The Wrap is that the 44-year-old "American Idol" judge is set to play Rihanna's mother in a new animated film called, "Home."

Lopez, who just confirmed the news, will star alongside Jim Parsons and Steve Martin. The film is based on the 2011 children's book, "The True Meaning of Smekday."

The "What Now" singer will also lead as "the resourceful girl who avoids capture and unwittingly becomes the accomplice of a banished boov (parsons)."

The animated alien invasion comedy is set for a November 2014 release.
