Beyonce Speaks On Taking A Risk With Her New Album, How Terrified She Was When Releasing The Album & Firing Her Father
January 13, 2014GWL StaffLast month, Beyonce appeared at The Director's Screening in New York City to answer questions about taking a risk by releasing a sting of songs with their accompanied videos on her latest, Beyonce, album.
The singer revealed that it was really hard for her and her team to keep the Beyonce project a secret, especially when she had to shoot the track's videos in a public setting occupied by fans.
"It was a lot of craziness happening with the videos. One of the things, I had an ear-bud in the videos and basically, the songs would be playing for me and the director.
For instance, "XO." We're walking through Coney Island, everyone's screaming and I'm trying to lip-sync to the lyrics. I could barely hear anything and I looked completely out of mind, while trying to greet fans."She then added:
"But we went through a lot of things to keep it sacret and to keep the surprise, because it's something missing and it is such a joy that I was able to experience growing up."
"And to be honest, I really really wanted to surprise people -- for them to just really hear the art in it, and not be about the hype and promotion. And we actually did it."The 32-year-old business-woman and mom, who rocked a skin tight cat-like suit with matching thigh-high boots, dished on starting her own company citing her father, Mathew Knowles, taught her "so much" and when she decided to fire him and manage herself, it was important that she didn't go to some management company.
She said her main inspiration was to follow the foot-steps of Madonna and be a power house and have her own Empire. In order for her to have done so, Beyonce revealed that she had no plans on sharing her success and money, but enlisted a group of underdogs, a team of women, and a team that no one believed in to run her team.
"I found a team that didn't follow the rules, so when we decided to do a visual album. Guess what, we made it happen with my company," she added. The songstress also spoke about the story behind her tracks "Mine," "Partition" and "Drunk in Love" ft. Jay Z:
"You know I've always been very generous on stage. I took all off my pain and all of my joy, and I used it in my performance."
"I think it just took me no longer being someone's child, you know once I became a mother I felt like I could tear down those forth walls. I've felt like I could no longer create my art for other people. So I felt like it was just time."Lastly, Beyonce answered an Instagram question about what was going through her mind the night she took over the Internet by releasing visual album:
"I just got off the stage. It was 11:30, once my plane took off, my cousin Angie was like, 'Girl you alright?' Because I was talking to myself while taking a sip of my wine.
"I was terrified. I was so scared, and I had already envisioned like the worst things that could happen. I was like people are gonna hate it. Why didn't I say anything. But no, I was just things that we all go through. It's just human."She concluded with:
"I was just really nervous, because this was such a huge risk. So when I landed, I saw it actually live on iTunes and you know you just waiting for the first comment. The next morning, I was just over the top excited, [dancing]. Thank You Jesus"Watch the clip below of Beyonce explaining her alter-egos "Sasha Fierce" "Yonce" & "Beyonce":

Oh wow that's interesting: her and the director having an ear bud with the song playing for the video, because I wondered when I watched the XO video 'how the hell did people not know this was a music video being shot near them'...makes sense now lol
ReplyDeletei think i enjoy the behind the scenes clips more than the other stuff. while i am not a full fledged beehive member i cannot deny that this woman is always on her grind. and she was spot on about the comment about feeling like she shouldn't have to share her success with others and she can own herself.
ReplyDeleteI agree with her about not sharing her success with others, I would love to build my own self contained empire!!
ReplyDeleteI can't be mad at Beyonce at all!
