Last night, "12 Years a Slave" was named "Best Motion Picture, Drama" at the Golden Globes, beating out "Captain Phillips," "Gravity," "Philomena" and "Rush."

Director Steve McQueen's historical biopic of Solomon Northup (played by British-American actor Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free man abducted and sold into slavery, "12 Years a Slave" has long been considered a front-runner in the best picture Oscar race.

Chiwetel said that despite the critical acclaim his film has received, he is keeping his expectations low. "I'm just going to enjoy the show," the actor said. "It's time to have fun and appreciate this celebration of film and television."

He also added: "The hard work is over."
