Katy Perry and John Mayer Have Called It Quits: What Caused The Couple To Split, Again? Details Inside -->

This week, it was reported that Katy Perry and John Mayer have called it quits for a second time. What we didn't know was who dumped who? Or was the split mutual.

Let's rewind a bit..... A source told E! News on Wednesday that Perry broke up with Mayer over the weekend before the news got out. The "Dark Horse" singer's decision was forthcoming, and Mayer was noticeably absent from Perry's side on her recent trip to London and Milan. She returned home to Los Angeles on Friday.

Despite some early signs of ups and down, the musical pair fast became one of Hollywood's hottest couples, since they first went public with their off-and-on romance in summer 2012. The couple sweetly gushed about each other in interviews and collaborated on the song "Who You Love," off of Mayer's latest album, Paradise Valley.

The duo have been the center of engagement rumors for quite some time now, with the most recent round of are-they-or-aren't-they being sparked by the huge diamond ring Perry was wearing at the Elle Style Awards last week in London.

But that engagement rumor quickly died down, as the glittering accessory was just for style.

Now, after calling things off again last March, but seemed to be going strong once again, the couple's hectic work schedules played a role in their split.

An inside source told E! News that the Prism singer's upcoming world tour was a big issue for the former lovebirds.

Perry is booked solid from May until November after recently adding another leg of her tour, which was the final straw for the split.

Yesterday, Katy announced on Twitter that she will be spending November in Australia and New Zealand.
"PERTH, ADELAIDE, MELBOURNE, SYDNEY, BRISBANE! I'll be seeing YOU this November! Stay tuned for MORE info," she wrote, and added, "And don't worry, New Zealand... I'm coming to see you kiwis too! Dates announced soon!"
Mayer is also scheduled for a worldwide tour from April to June.

Regardless, there were a few signs that may have been signaling trouble in paradise for the twosome. Mayer was noticeably absent from Perry's side on her recent trip to London and Milan and returned home to Los Angeles on Friday, as her former beau remains in New York.

The couple also appeared on Ellen in December (2012) to talk about collaborating on a video together:

So, do you think it's just a matter of time before they get back together?
