The singer recently performed at Boombox's "Off The Record" series and took a risk when she decided to cover Chaka Khan's legendary "Sweet Thing" single.
After watching the video, Chaka thanked Ashanti for the tribute via Twitter:
“I am so BLESSED 2 have your beautiful talent paying a tribute 2 me! What a great birthday gift! Much love!!” (Chaka turns 61 later this month.)
