"Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" reality star and radio disc-jockey Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, was shot three times on Saturday afternoon while en route to his late mother Mary Ann Scott's funeral in Massachusetts.

The 48-year-old business man was reportedly shot by his nephew Gai Scott after an argument erupted between family members during the funeral service.

According to WCVB ... the district attorney says Benzino was shot by Gai, adding, "There has been growing family tension" between the two.

The D.A. says Benzino and Gai were in different cars ... but while driving through Duxbury on his way to St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth, authorities said at some point, his nephew allegedly fired shots --around 11:55am -- hitting him three times.

He was later rushed to the hospital, and is now in stable condition. As for Gai, he was charged with assault with intent to murder.

Remarkably, the rest of the family went on with the funeral and the preacher says when they arrived both the limo and the hearse were blood stained, reports TMZ.

Stevie J also posted a pic (second photo above) on Instagram of the reality star in the hospital to prove it. B's biceps are bandaged ... so it appears that's where he was shot.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said:

The incident was between two vehicles whose occupants knew each other. The driver of a Bentley shot the driver of a red Dodge SUV, who exited his car and was taken to the Duxbury police station by a passerby. The injured red Dodge SUV driver, who officials say was in his 40s, was then transported by ambulance to the hospital.The Bentley driver has been arrested and will be arraigned Monday on a charge of armed assault with intent to murder.
