The R&B singer Ne-Yo has departed from Def Jam Records and is taking on a new role in music at Motown Records. Billboard says he is becoming the senior VP of A&R. With his new gig, Ne-Yo will produce and mentor artists on the label and also help discover and sign new talent.
Ne-Yo says he’s “honored” to have such a “prestigious title,” adding that he plans to follow in the footsteps of his idol Smokey Robinson.
