We recently reported that music producer from The Hitmen, Jeffrey “J Dub” Walker tweeted the other day his excitement on being able to produce a track, “Steady Ground” on fallen R&B singer Aaliyah’s upcoming album. It’s been eleven years since Aaliyah’s untimely death and we all miss the R&B princess, so an album at this point would be sublime!
There is no confirmation that a posthumous Aaliyah album is coming, although she’s had two before. 2002′s I Care For You contained three unreleased songs, but everything else on that album and 2005′s Ultimate Aaliyah were mostly best-ofs throughout the singer’s too-short career.
“Steady Ground” features an also deceased Static Major, who passed away in 2008 from complications of a rare condition called myasthenia gravis. The song is mellow and features an almost haunting, choir-esque harmony that could probably rock you to sleep.
Listen to Aaliyah’s “Steady Ground” here.
Let's just hope for the best! Because I can't wait to hear this one.
