Usher STRIKES A Deal To Play Boxer "Sugar Ray Leonard" In New Biopic
March 23, 2012GWL StaffEverybody is acting, and Usher happens to be one of those musicians now turned actor! The singer has been chosen to play legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in a new biopic starring Hollywood legend Robert De Niro.
Hands of Stone will tell the story of Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran, who fought Leonard three times in his career.
The R&B star told BBC News: "I'm in preparation for an incredible role. If you guys see me running around London, that's what it is."
"If you see me in the corners boxing, I'm doing that while working on this album."
Duran and Leonard had an infamous series of fights in the '80s, with the Panamanian defeating a previously unbeaten Leonard and clinching the WBC Welterweight title in the first fight, later described as The Brawl In Montreal.
Hands of Stone is due to be released in somtime in 2013 - which should be just about enough time for Usher to add the necessary bulk to his tiny frame.
Usher recently dropped the Diplo collaboration 'Climax' in prepration for this as yet untitled seventh studio album, due for release later this year.
