The Official SPARKLE Movie Poster was released yesterday, but the movie will hit theaters August 17. The upcoming musical drama is inspired by The Supremes, which is a remake of the 1976 film of the same name, which centered around three singing teenage sisters from Harlem who formed a girl group in the late 1950s.

With the theatrical trailer for the movie now running in theaters, it's hard to not get excited about its premiere. The late Whitney Houston is show casing those vocals we love, Jordin Sparks ("Sparkle") seems to be coming into her own as an actress & the film's story--originally written over 35 years ago--rings true even to this day.
