Now, BET has confirmed rapper Bow Wow as the new host of the show along with three others... Detroit native's Paigion and Shorty Da Prince along with Miss Mykie. See what BET had to say below:
ET Networks revealed today that the new hosts of “106 & PARK” will be Bow Wow, Ms. Mykie, Paigion and Shorty Da Prince. Having the most appearances in the show’s 12 year show history as well as guest hosting several times, Bow Wow also known as “Mr. 106 & PARK” will follow in the steps of previous hosts, A.J. Calloway, Free, Terrence J. and Rocsi.
Bow Wow, 25, will greet television’s ‘livest’ studio audience alongside “The Search” winners, Ms. Mykie, 23; Paigion, 24; and Shorty Da Prince, 23. After three months of co-hosting the show with Terrence J., Rocsi and a number of celebrity co-hosts, Ms. Mykie, hailing from Houston, TX, Paigon, and Shorty Da Prince, both repping Detroit, Michigan, beat out thousands of host hopefuls to earn their spot as the new co-hosts of “106 & PARK.” They will join Bow Wow 5 nights a week to bring the best of urban/pop culture, hottest music videos and A-list celebrity guests to BET viewers.
“We chose to break the mold. These 4 talented folks will bring spirit, fresh perspective and crazy fun to the 106 & Park stage. Shorty, Paigion and Miss Mykie are clearly stars and luckily for us, started gelling as a collective during The Search,” said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, BET Networks. “On the sneak tip, we were pursuing Bow Wow hoping he might be interested. We were thrilled when he said “yes”. The energy is palpable. The crew is assembled. We are excited about this new future of 106 & Park.”
“I am very excited to take on this new journey in my career with BET. I’m all about branding myself and not just in music, but in TV and movies,” said Bow Wow. “Everyone always wants to compare me to the Fresh Prince, well now they can call me the Fresh Prince of 106 & Park. Get ready for a whole new world.”
This week our new hosts will welcome Ke Ke Palmer, Sean Paul, Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Condola Rashad, Adepero Oduye, Swizz Beatz, DJ Drama, Faith Evans, and David Oyelowo. What's your thoughts on the new host's?
