Last night, Alicia Keys hosted her "Black Ball Redux" gala charity event for her "Keep a Child Alive" foundation, which helped raised over $1.3 Million to help those affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

The event, which was originally scheduled for November 1st due to Hurricane Sandy, honored talk show Queen, Oprah Winfrey, for her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Here's what Oprah had to say:

"You try to keep a child alive and I try to educate them as best as I can," Winfrey told Keys onstage.

And here's what Mrs. Keys told AP:

"There are places in the world where Keep a Child Alive serves where they have a Hurricane Sandy every day," said Keys. "They don't have electricity, they don't have heat . . . and that made me more invigorated to make sure this Black Ball happened."

The “Girl on Fire” was joined by her mother Terri Augello, husband Swizz Beatz, brother Cole Cook, and Swizz’ brother Andre King

And Jennifer Hudson, Bonnie Raitt, Angélique Kidjo, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes also attended the event held at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York.
