EXCLUSIVE: Rihanna Partners With MAC To Launch "RiRi Mac" Cosmetics!

February 19, 2013GWL Staff

With the world being so fascinated with her relationship with boyfriend Chris Brown and debuting her new "River Island" collection at London's Fashion Week last Saturday night, 25 year-old Rihanna, who is in Hawaii partying the night away on her Birthday, has now join forces with Mac Cosmetics to drop her first makeup line called, "RiRi Mac."

Rihanna responds to the groundbreaking MAC agreement calling it a no brainer, saying she will be showing off her creative side while collaborating on multiple colors of cosmetics that will roll out later this year, hopefully during  the Summer.

The first product to launch will be "RiRi Woo," a lipstick inspired by her favorite MAC and also signature color, "Red," and will be released just in time for her Diamonds World Tour concerts on May 4th and 5th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. There will also be a MAC open pop-up shop on the first night to showcase the line.

Rih then opened up more about the line by saying:
"When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind--has to be something legit and that's MAC. Whatever color you want, it's like 'let's go to MAC. I've been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand."
Rihanna then stated that creating four line's of makeup is no different from making songs.

RiRi Woo will be sold at the Rihanna concerts and online, and a summer collection will follow, which will also be sold online. A third will land in brick-and-mortar stores for fall, and there will be an on-counter holiday collection.

According to MAC's senior Vice President of Global Product Development, Jennifer Balbier:

"The signature piece of the lineup, RiRi Woo, will be sold with all four collections. The summer collection also includes two additional lipsticks, a Lustre Drops shade and a powder blush duo.
Fall’s 16 sku’s include four lipsticks, a deeply pigmented Lipglass version of RiRi Woo, two multishade eye shadow palettes and false lashes. (“Rihanna likes to wear two pairs at a time). Plus, the Holiday will bring another 10 items, including nail polish, a makeup bag and additional lipsticks.
As excited as she is about the MAC project, the "Stay" singer also revealed that her collaboration with British high-street retailer 'River Island,' features a 120-piece collection for spring and includes sexy crop tops, hooded jumpsuits and skirts with high slits and will be sold through the retailer, and exclusively in the U.S. and in Japan at Opening Ceremony.
“When it comes to creating things, I like to get my hands in there,” she said. “Tonight just blew my mind, it was like a dream come true. I mean, to have a fashion show in London Fashion Week. For this to happen so quickly was just sick. It was the same with MAC. I never thought I’d be able to create makeup with such a big brand so quickly at such a young age. It’s kind of sick to even say aloud when I think about it.”
Are you excited or what? Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY RIHANNA!

  2. Call me crazy but why would Mac want to be affiliated with someone who takes back her boyfriend who abused her. She is a horrible example to young women everywhere. I am confused!

  3. I couldn't agree more.... I wouldn't want to get behind someone financially whose boyfriend beat her nearly to death and then she took him back.

  4. Let's not exaggerate. Did he beat her? Yes. Nearly to death? No. Do they both need psychiatric help? Absolutely.
