A Teary-Eyed Paula Deen FINALLY APPEARS On The "Today Show," Talks Using "N" Word, Planning A Plantation Wedding & More!
June 26, 2013GWL StaffThis morning, a teary-eyed (still unemployed but still rich) Paula Deen finally appeared on the "Today Show" after bailing on the network last week to do some damage control-- attempting to clear-up her image saying, "I'm not racist" and talks learning from her past mistakes.
Here's what she told host Matt Lauer:
On using the "N" 30 years-ago:
"If there's anyone out there that has never said something that they wish they could take back, then please pick up that stone and throw it at my head…and hit me as hard as you can."On her childhood and growing up in the South:
"I believe that every one of God's creatures was created equal, no matter what church you go to pray. I believe that everyone should be treated equal, and that's the way I was raised.
I am here today because I want people to know who I am, and people that have worked beside me, have walked beside, know what kind of person I am."On being fired from the Food Network and losing major endorsement deals:
Would I have fired me? Knowing me? No," she said. "I am so very thankful for the partners I have who believe in me."On if she knew the 'N' word was offensive to Black people:
"I don’t know, I have asked myself that so many times," Deen said. "I go into my kitchens and hear what these young people are calling each other...it’s very distressing for me. I think for this problem to be worked on these young people are gonna have to take control and start showing respect for each other."How can you not know it was offensive?..Deen held/hosted plantation parties with black men dress like slaves and having her employees at her restaurant ( a restaurant she co-owns with her brother Bubba) using separate bathrooms. It's just a little too late Deen, because media has finally caught up with your actions.
Do you think QBC will be dropping her soon. Watch the full interview here:
