Kerry Washington Accepts Variety's "Power of Women" Award + "Scandal" Season 3 Breaks Ratings Records!

"Scandal" actress Kerry Washington --who has been out and about promoting the new season of the ABC hit show -- was presented with an award onstage during Variety's 5th Annual Power of Women event presented by Lifetime on Friday at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.


Washington was honored for her charitable work in supporting the President's Committee on the "Arts" and the "Humanities." She also wore a Vince Camuto dress, Christian Louboutin heels, a Bettina Javaheri bracelet, and a Movado watch to the event.


Kerry's former co-star on "The Details with Tobey Maguire" back in 2001, Elizabeth Banks (right above) who was also awarded for her work on behalf of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign.

And speaking of "Scandal", season three premiere of the show has reportedly broke rating records airing in its 10 p.m., hour on ABC. The show won the timeslot with a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demo and a total of 10.51 million viewers.

 This makes a 76% improvement over the season two premiere, which garnered a 2.1 rating in the demo. It also marks the most-watched episode of the series to date!
