On Thursday, Amanda Knox was convicted again for the murder of Meredith Kercher.
Knox was found guilty by an Italian jury in the retrial of her roommate's death, and was sentenced by a judge to serve 28 years behind bars, along with her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, getting 25 years.
Knox, who was not present in the courtroom when the verdict was read, has been living in Seattle throughout the trial, with reports claiming she will be extradited from the US.
She released the following statement about the guilty verdict, expressing how shock she's with the jury’s decision. “I am frightened and saddened by this unjust verdict. Having been found innocent before, I expected better from the Italian justice system,” Knox said.
As previously reported, the Seattle-native was first convicted in 2009 in the British student Kercher’s murder in Perugia, Italy, getting a 26 years in prison until it was overturned two years later.
Prosecutor Alessandro Crini previously said that if Knox was found guilty again they would extradite her from the United States.
