Cee-Lo Green Throws In The Towel; Confirms Leaving NBC's ‘The Voice’
February 20, 2014GWL StaffThis week, rapper Cee-Lo Green stopped by the Ellen show and surprised everyone by announcing that he won't be returning to NBC's "The Voice" for the fall season.
According to Idolator (via Datzhott), Green says being on the show only henders him from focusing on his next studion album and other television opportunities.
"I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year,” he said. “But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice too. So I’m not coming back guys."He also made it clear that he won't be returning to the show, because he doesn't want to overdue his welcome:
"I’m not coming back at all. I don’t want to wear out my welcome there,” he continued. “I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album."The Voice returns February 24th with the spring lineup of Shakira, Usher Raymond, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. And for the fall season, Shakira will replace Christina Aguilera, and now NBC will have to figure out whether they’ll replace Cee-Lo (who's already confirmed his exit) or just give Usher the option to stay on.
