Despite being sued for rippin' off a German photographer who inspired her S&M videoRihanna has decided to lend her star power to a campaign for 'gay rights' in Russia and at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

According to NMFYF, last night the 25-year-old singer shared a photo of herself wearing an emblazoned hat with P6, short for Principle 6, to her combined 34 million Twitter and Instagram followers.

The new campaign speaks out against Russia's anti-gay "propaganda law" as the nation hosts the Winter Olympics.

In subsequent tweets, she posted links to other articles highlighting the issue. Equality group All Out tweeted their thanks to the singer by saying: "Whoah. Thank you @rihanna for standing up for #P6 and equality at the Olympics!" the group posted.

P6 takes its name from the sixth of seven "fundamental principles" listed in the International Olympic Committee's Charter.

According to Philly.com, the folks behind Charter say: "Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement."
