Jay-Z Plans To SHUT DOWN ‘Times Square’ With A FREE CONCERT Next Month!

Word on the street is that "Holy Grail" rapper Jay-Z is requesting permission for a second time to shut down 'Times Square' with a free concert next month.

The Hip Hop mogul plans to surprise fans atop the Marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater that will turn rush-hour into a gigantic street party.

According to the NYPost, the Brooklyn rapper is close to obtaining the necessary approvals for a July 8 "Late Show with David Letterman" performances.

And if you can remember, the City of New York killed the same plan in the summer of 2010 over concerns about crowd control and security.

A law enforcement officer had this to say, "If he gets permission from the Mayor's office, it's going to be off the hook. They'll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They'll have to have a strong police presence. It's going to be chaos with so many fans."

Now, what's changed since three years ago, a source tells the website "the concert will likely go off as planned," despite the Bloomberg administration's decision to pull the plug back in 2010.

"It is close. There are a lot of logistical concerns," says a bystander, including shutting down a large swath of Times Square near the theater, which is between West 53rd and West 54th streets.

Fans are saying, "the event would be a great one for New York City."

Will you be attending?... I know I will be there even if I have to walk on my eye lids!
