Randy Jackson Not Leaving American Idol!

August 22, 2013Fred

The last remaining judge from the original American Idol lineup, Randy Jackson, announced in May that he was leaving the show.  It was just one of the many moves that Idol executives wanted to make to shake the show up and generate some buzz after Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj both announced their exit.

It was recently announced that Jimmy Iovine, who held the in house mentor position for the show for the past three seasons, is also leaving.  So it looks as if Jackson is set to take over that position.  Deadline is reporting that Jackson is the likely replacement:
"I’ve learned that top music producer Jimmy Iovine is leaving the talent competition series, where he served as an in-house mentor for the past three seasons. I hear he will likely be replaced by former Idol judge Randy Jackson."
Plus, Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez has already confirmed their return for season 13. And of course, all of the changes has done one thing and that is 'create a buzz'.  Will the buzz translate into increased viewer numbers as the show is counting on?  Well, we will see!

  1. I'm not sure what Jimmy Iovine was doing but I'm sure Randy can handle it!
