Despite the judging panel being smaller than usual, singer/actress Jennifer Lopez has officially returned to "American Idol" taking Mariah Carey's place for the upcoming 13th season.
Lopez will be seated next to Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr, who has been a mentor on the show for years and is Nicki Minaj's replacement.
Urban, who joined Idol for season 12 casting, says he's excited about the catfight-free panel and looks forward to the show's big premiere in January 2014 on Fox.
Also, this is a panel Mariah was hoping for -- to be Queen Bee -- until she read reports about Minaj joining "IDOL".
