Lawsuit Macy's

NOT AGAIN! Actor Robert Brown SUES Macy's New York Following His Arrest Due to Racial Profiling!

First it was Barney's New York. Now, this time it's retail giant Macy's New York.

Actor Robert Brown, best known for his role on HBO hit series "Treme," is suing Macy's New York on 34th St following his arrest after the store falsely accused him of credit card fraud back in June.

Brown, 29, of Brooklyn, claims he went to the store to purchase a graduation gift for his lovely mom, and decided to also buy himself something nice -- a $1300 Movado watch to be exact.

While strolling around in the store, Brown said he was then approached by three white men (assumed to be store's security) and on the spot accused him of Credit Card fraud.

He was cuffed and walked throughout the store like a criminal. But after an hour or so -- waiting in an holding cell -- the cops eventually found out about Brown's star status and he was then released.

Brown filed a class action lawsuit on Wednesday against the high-end store for racial profiling and begs the court to put a stop to Macy's "Stop and frisk" approach against minority shoppers.

Brown had this to say: "Macy's security 'policies and practices' have left customers of color feeling victimized, humiliated, and traumatized including myself."

Others have reportedly come forward to join the class action lawsuit against several other Macy's stores with one store location being far South in Florida.

According to the NYPost: Macy’s issued a statement saying, “We cannot comment on pending litigation. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind, including racial profiling."

  1. It's really sad that a black man can't shop without being accused of stealing. I'm glad he is calling them out.

    1. I know right, but why did it took him so looong?? I guess now after the Barney's things - it seems like a perfect timing.

  2. Well, some things you just will never understand, unless it happens to you... most white people cannot fathom something like this, but as a black person it's actually strange to walk into a shop and not get followed around, that's how common place it has become.
