BET Apologizes To B.Scott After Forcing Him To Remove Heels & Make-Up For Awards Show Red Carpet!
July 02, 2013GWL StaffDespite causing a uproar in the gay community on Sunday, BET, who calls the incident a "miscommunication," has now issued an apology to fashion blogger and media maven B. Scott after demanding him to remove his heels before conducting interviews on the BET Awards show red carpet.
On Monday, Scott took to his blog to explain the whole outfit change saying:
"I had plans on wearing a flowing black tunic and black pants, not only to hear that I had to tone it down to a more conservative suit. I was also asked to pull my long hair back in a ponytail and not to wear heels."
It’s not just about the fact that BET forced me to pull my hair back, asked me to take off my makeup, made me changed my clothes and prevented me from wearing a heel,” he wrote. “It’s more so that from the mentality and environment created by BET made me feel less than and that something was wrong with who I am as a person.”Now, here's what BET had to say (via Associated Press):
“BET Networks embraces global diversity in all its forms and seeks to maintain an inclusive workforce and a culture that values all perspectives and backgrounds,” the statement read.
“The incident with B. Scott was a singular one with a series of unfortunate miscommunications from both parties. We regret any unintentional offense to B. Scott and anyone within the LGBT community and we seek to continue embracing all gender expressions.”So far, B. Scott has yet to respond to BET's apology.
