BET Causes UPROAR In The LGBT Community After FORCING Media Maven B.Scott To Glam It Down Before HOSTING The Pre-Shows!
July 01, 2013GWL StaffThe androgynous media maven and blogger, who's a prominent face for the LGBT community, was visibly less animated than his typical self while interviewing celebrities on the red carpet during the 106 and Park pre-show.
According to Mrgerrenalist, "What many fans and onlookers didn't know was that Scott was asked to do a complete outfit change including the removal of his heels, which is a staple piece in his fashion, before the show."
Here's what B. Scott had to say via Twitter:
B. Scott is known for his expressive style of dress, which makes BET’s decision all the more perplexing, as it’s assumed that they knew what they were getting when they booked him to host. Unfortunately, BET gave in to what was probably a image concern for their viewers.
This incident is a reminder that while the LGBT community has made strides in marriage equality (i.e. the Supreme Court’s DOMA decision), other sectors of the community continue to face discrimination. Funny, how B. Scott was censored yet Meagan Good was allowed to have her breast ALL the way out while presenting the award for BEST GOSPEL artist.
BET will probably get a call and press statement from GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign very soon…Also, the gender-bending celebrity immediately got some big names to add to his list of supporters, like the former model-turned acting couple of Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker. Scott also revealed how a consultant for consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble expressed the company's sentiments with the message, "We at P&G do not support what they are doing to you."
